WORLD MATHS DAY!

The countdown has begun to World Maths Day on 3rd March 2010. This is a truly unique world event and a fantastic way to improve numeracy skills. Past results show that students will make significant improvements in their mental arithmetic skills and have great fun in the process!

Last year’s event involved over 2 million students from 204 countries. This year the organisers are trying to beat the world record for the largest online maths competition - we want our students to be part of this exciting event!

Every student in Year 1 – 6 (and students in senior school too) has been given their own username and password so that they can take part in this challenge. This should be glued into their school diary. Students then go the World Maths Day website: http://www.worldmathsday.com/ to sign and start playing live games of mental arithmetic against other students around the world. How exciting!

Even though the online competition takes place on Wednesday 3rd March we would like everybody to practise as much as possible in the 20 days leading up to this. Please encourage and support your child to take part in this event.
