4LB ´Visit Lisbon' mini exhibition tomorrow!

Today, 4D did a FANTASTIC job of advertising and persuading children, parents, teachers and assistants to visit Lisbon. Tomorrow is 4LB's turn and we hope that you will be able to come in and visit our classroom tomorrow between 08:40 and 9:50 to see if you would like to take a tour to the wonderful city of Lisbon!

We would love to see you there!

As we all know, Year 4 has been busily working on their final summative assessment where they are creating travel agencies! We will be having a mini exhibition in the two year 4 classes where we will be having other classes and parents welcome to come see how we have been working! They are all very exciting!

4D will be presenting their work on Monday June 29th for the first two periods of the day.
4LB will be presenting their work on Tuesday June 30th for the first two periods of the day.

Come and see all our FANTASTIC travel agencies, and see if they PERSUADE YOU!

Maths Homework this week - 21st June

This week we are having a change from what we normally do! We are asking you to visit a great website that you have previously used in class. We would like you to go to the list of maths blogs and choose the Gordon's Maths site. You can select ANY of the games to practise your number skills - yes, ANY of the games can be played!!! BUT, you will need to tell us which of the games you played in Friday's lesson.

We really hope you find this website helpful and it would be great if you visited this over the summer holidays, so add it to your favourites!

Unit of Inquiry homework - research for Summative Assessment task

As the lovely Miss D said in a previous post, we will be using our UoI homework time to continue our research for the Summative Assessment task which will be to create a 'Travel Agency' encouraging a target audience to visit Lisbon (and surrounding beaches, parks, museums etc).

Yesterday, each child should have received 2 'tourist' maps of the Lisbon area. We would like the children to look at the maps they have received and discover all the reasons why someone might like to visit Lisbon. Also, we would like them to look at the different areas which make up Lisbon and the attractions in those different areas (a little geography, i.e. where is the Centro Cultural de Belem in relation to the Parque das Nacoes). Perhaps, they may even be able to PERSUADE you to visit a museum or park in Lisbon that you, as a family, have never been to before...

It would be great to know if they have managed to use the persuasive techniques they have learnt in class to persuade you to go anywhere new!

There is no recording necessary for this homework. Perhaps the children could circle, in one colour, all the places they have already visited, and in another colour all the places they would be interested in visiting.

I hope this will be a fun activity in which the whole family can be involved in celebrating the wonderful city in which we live!

Unit Of Inquiry Homework

Hi all,

Year 4 is working hard on producing a fantastic set of summative assesments - our final one for year 4!

Your homework for this week is to ensure that you continue to do any pieces of work that bring your group closer to producing a fantastic summative assessment.
For example, you may edit your group´s paragraph, research information, collect images etc.
Remember the aim is to be creative and persuasive!

Enjoy!

Maths Homework - Due Friday 18 June

Hi there all,

We are continuing to make some great progress on our work in Maths across Year 4. Currently we are focusing on time, working with money and the revision of strategies learnt throughout the year.

The maths homework for this week is -
  • 4LB to complete page 128 of textbook.
  • 4D to complete the worksheet on money and page 128 of textbook if they have not already done so.
  • The focus for mental maths is number bonds to 100 and timestables and division facts. Please note, with mental maths, the children are encouraged to work on areas that they feel they need improvement.

Enjoy!
